Simple and Sweet Backyard Wedding in Buckley, WA

Jordyn and Spencer decided to have a backyard wedding at a private residence in Washington state. They included small details and events throughout their wedding to make it unforgettable.

Backyard weddings can be so intimate and special, especially if that backyard is property that is special to the couple or of a close friend or family member. Spencer and Jordyn wanted to focus on the moments created throughout the day and include fun activities that would leave their guests with a noteworthy experience.

A Look at Jordyn + Spencer's Backyard Wedding

Spencer and Jordyn had a truly magical day surrounded by their friends and family. Their wedding was set on private property and included an airplane hangar, pool, reception tent and views of Mt. Rainier in the distance.

They started their day off by getting ready on the property which had a gorgeous lodge inspired atmosphere to it. Jordyn had a first look with her dad and it was really emotional and sweet. Her and her dad’s relationship is so sweet, I’m not sure he stopped crying happy tears all day long for his sweet daughter. Spencer and Jordyn then shared their first look together which was so anticipated by the couple and their friends. Afterwards we spent some time exploring the property and taking their portraits before the ceremony.

Their ceremony was filled with laughs, heartfelt moments and emotion. They had a flower man come down the aisle and he really set the mood of good energy for their ceremony. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the crowd as Jordyn was escorted down the aisle by her father. They did their first kiss then right before they walked back down the aisle, their wedding party shot of confetti cannons! Talk about making a statement as a newly married couple! I felt incredibly honored to be a part of this special day.

After their ceremony we were able to capture some glowy sunset portraits. The reception was an absolute blast as there were confetti cannons and everyone was busting out their best dance moves! To wrap-up the evening Jordyn and Spencer had a sparkler send off that ended with them jumping into the POOL!! Being able to have less rules around send offs or even design of your day is definitely a huge benefit of personal property. It was such a fun and exciting way to end their day and I had so much fun photographing such a unique moment!

5 Ways to Make Your Backyard Wedding Memorable and Fun!

  1. Unique Details: Incorporating decor that reflects your personalities or details that represent the two of you is a great way to make your wedding memorable and really tie everything together.

  2. Lawn Games: like cornhole, horseshoes or any other type of lawn game can be a really fun way to get your guests immersed into your day.

  3. Create Spaces: If you are having a backyard wedding and want to add a unique touch, moving your indoor furniture outside can be a really interesting way to create a lounge area for guests to gather. This gives guests a place to relax and mingle. I almost always recommend hanging string lights somewhere in a backyard setting for some ambiance.

  4. Send Off: These are getting more and more popular and there are so many different things you can do to end your wedding with a bang! Sparklers, Confetti, or like Spencer and Jordyn, jump in a pool!

  5. Hire Professionals: Even though you’re doing a backyard wedding, there are some things that will make your day better by hiring out specific tasks. Things like catering (or book a food truck) or a day of coordinator to help keep your day flowing smoothly!
