I’m Gina. Born and raised Washingtonian! I grew up with Mt. Rainier in my backyard + spend my weekends photographing couples all over Washington State. You can read more about me right here.

So, you’re getting married in Washington…

First off, a big congratulations on picking what I think is the best state in the country to get married in. Am I slightly biased? I am. But there are so many amazing reasons to get married in Washington! You probably landed here after a quick google search for “where to get married in Washington” or “Best Venues in Washington” - there is a ton of options because this is a very large search term but I’m going to break this down for you in hopes that it helps you narrow down what you are looking for. What I do want you to know is that I would LOVE to photograph your Washington wedding (and am happy to be a planning resource as needed!) I’ve shot hundreds of weddings in Washington, so I know a thing or two about what makes a wedding day successful, the most beautiful spots to get married and am a library of knowledge for anyone planning a wedding in Washington. What you should know about working with me:

My style is natural, relaxed and candid. I got into this art because I saw the importance in it. Capturing and telling our stories is the only way for our memories to live on. The people, the moments, the details of your day are incredibly important to me because I know they are incredibly important to YOU. I am full of positive energy, always smiling, and spend most of my days laughing- I’m just a genuinely happy human being. And that is probably why weddings found me. Connecting with other people and spending such a beautiful, happy, and important day with them is why I love what I do.

Gina is hands down amazing!!!!!!! She is truly the best at her job and captured the most amazing photos at our Washington wedding! I don’t know how she does it, but she manages to be your biggest hype girl, extremely calm and collected, fun and is able to make you feel comfortable and beautiful all at the same time. It was honestly like having one of my friends around us all day! We are so excited to have found Gina!! We definitely plan on using Gina in the future to capture all our special moments

A Guide to Getting Married in Washington

The best thing about getting married in Washington is that you have four complete seasons to choose from as well as a range of landscapes and weather to choose from. You have everything from ocean front beaches to forests and mountain tops to deserts and cliffsides.

Best Time of Year To Get Married In Washington

There is absolutely a wedding season in Washington state, and it ranges from May through October. This is the time when the weather is the overall best, semi predictable, most dry and locations are most accessible. Let’s break this up by regions throughout Washington state.

Eastern Washington

This includes areas like Spokane, Lake Chelan and Walla Walla. Eastern Washington is also thought of as wine country and much more known for agriculture and farming. That is because of its dry heat and warmer temperatures throughout the summer months. You can expect extremely warm temperatures from late June through early September for weddings in eastern Washington. That’s not to say it doesn’t rain during these months (in Washington, there is always a chance of rain) but generally these months are warm and dry. Mid-summer the temperatures can peak above 100 degrees, so if you are not wanting to have a wedding in extremely hot temperatures, opting for dates right outside of those peak summer months might be better for you. July and August are also peak tourist time in some of these spots (like Lake Chelan) so you might be looking at higher prices and competing for lodging. Again, that is because it is so nice that time of year! In the winters, eastern washington gets extremely cold and you can expect snow and cooler temps from November through February.

Central Washington

This includes areas like Leavenworth, Cle Elum, Chehalis and most of the Cascade Mountain Range. There will be a lot of varying temperatures throughout the year depending on your elevation in this area. For example, North Bend, WA can be really beautiful late fall where 60 miles east can be experiencing a snow storm. Waiting for some of the snow to melt for some of these locations means mid July through mid October are the best times of year to get married. Central Washington has the most beautiful fall however fall also tends to be hard to predict. When traveling over passes in months November through May you run the risk of pass closures and delays due to snow storms which can cause issues for guests traveling in from Seattle International Airport or from one side of the state to the other. If you are wanting a snowy winter wedding, this is likely the region you’d be looking for.

Western Washington

This includes Bellingham, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia all the way down to Camas. This is the most mild area of the state. While there is still a definite winter and summer, the temperatures don’t tend to be as extreme. The best time of year for weddings in this region are May through October. If you are hoping for a winter wedding though, you can easily find locations in this region that are open year round and have more options for those November, December and January weddings.

Washington Coast

Truly one of the most beautiful locations to get married in Washington but also extremely unpredictable. While the summer months can be beautiful, the can also have days that are windy and cold. Summer months also tend to be the most popular for out of town guests, vacationers and tourists. The winter can be wet on the coast, but it can also be a really awesome option for those moody Pacific Northwest weddings or an opportunity to avoid busy season. In my opinion, I think more spring months (April-June) can be the best for these weddings- right before the business of summer vistiors but after the wet cold weather of winter.

Best Wedding Venues in Washington State

There are so many venues to choose from in Washington State (this is a huge geographic range we are covering here!) but from a photographers perspective I’d love to offer a few ideas to consider! This list is definitely forever being added to for me, but here are a few of my favorite venues as well as why I think they make the best venues for weddings in Washington:

BEST VENUES FOR OUTDOOR CEREMONIES

  • Mountain Spring Lodge (Leavenworth, WA) An awesome weekend experience for guests, rustic feel and ideal of outdoor weddings

  • Alderbrook Resort (Union, WA) A beautiful backdrop on thier back lawn overlooking the water

BEST EASTERN WASHINGTON VENUES

  • Harmony Meadows (lake chelan, WA) Their indoor space is absolutely beautiful too, great for a weekend away

  • Abeja Inn (Walla Walla, WA) They only host a select number of weddings each year as a popular winery inn, it’s a spot you don’t want to overlook

  • Yellowhawk Resort (walla walla, WA) Beautifully landscaped and really awesome features like a pool, guest house, and places to stay

BEST VENUES FOR INTIMATE WEDDINGS

  • Corson Building (seattle, wa) a historic building turned restaurant with garden like feel, they can seat 30 indoors and up to 80 on their patio.

  • Treehouse Point (Snoqualmie/North Bend) Such a unique spot to get married, with a max guest list of 20 people.

  • Lakewold Gardens (Lakewood, WA) Located right outside of Tacoma, WA. This venue offers lush gardens and a Georgian-style mansion with max capacity at 80.

BEST VENUES WITH INDOOR OPTIONS

  • The Kelley Farm (located in Bonney Lake, Washington) I got married here! A beautiful barn in the PNW

  • Farm 12 (located in Puyallup, Washington) A lot of options here from their greenhouse to new indoor space to barn, I love it in the Spring!

  • Kiana Lodge (Poulsbo, WA) Rustic meets PNW with this waterfront venue and well lit indoor space

BEST SCENIC VENUES

  • Crystal Mountain Weddings (Crystal Mountain) Literally on top of a mountain, can you beat it?

  • North Fork Farm (North Bend, WA) This new spot gives mountain feels without the trek, Mt. Si as your ceremony backdrop!

  • Saltwater Farm (Friday Harbor) This place is DREAMY. Little cabins for guests to stay in and acres to explore

BEST STATE PARK VENUES

BEST VENUES FOR WINTER WEDDINGS

  • Swiftwater Cellars (Cle Elum, WA) Also awesome in the summer, but can be a winter wonderland in the snow

  • Trinity Tree Farm (Issaquah, WA) Also great summer spot, but as a Christmas Tree farm I had to throw it in this category (plus they have TWO amazing indoor venue options)
