In my book, a mother's day photo session is ALWAYS a good idea. Such a special time together, celebrating a day that honors one of the most important people in your life. Then add in the fact that you'll get some gorgeous photos of the two of you to have for the rest of your life- brilliant! It just makes sense! I'm SO glad Kelly contacted me to shoot her and her beautiful daughter on Mothers Day. We met at an amazing garden in Portland, Oregon early in the morning and just walked around taking in the gorgeous scenery. Getting to know them was such a treat and I think their relationship is so special. I felt honored to get to spend the morning with them and celebrate clearly an amazing mom. As silly, crazy, and (at times) ridiculous, our moms can sometimes be, there are no words to sum up how truly important and special they are to us. So it seems only fitting to say it with pictures. Warning: this post may make you want to immediately call your mom or daughter and tell them how special they are.
I love that quote. I really do. I have to admit, it wasn't until I started going through these photos though that I completely understood it. So a huge thank you to these two for showing me what it means. It's simple really. Fall in love laughing, laughing hard and laughing without holding back. Fall in love with your foreheads nuzzled so close together that you simply just close your eyes and feel. Fall in love smiling, so much so that your cheeks force your eyes to squint a little. It's that moment of genuine happiness. That moment when you are so consumed in a smile, a laugh, a touch- that you can't help but close your eyes and absorb that feeling. That is how people should fall in love. These photos below are not in some extravagant setting (though your yard was lovely, guys!) But we were just casually having a beer in their backyard on a sunny Sunday- nothing too uncommon. What makes these photos special, is the feeling they capture and the moments they've frozen. I hope Tanya and Chris forever remember this day. Not as anything extraordinary, but just as a normal day full of genuine happiness, absolute love, and good beer.
I also really think Deschutes Brewery should definitely send them a little wedding gift. Don't you agree?
These are my people. You know that moment when you're with other similar souls and then your like- YES, we are the same. That's these two. When they decided we should head out to Silver Falls Park in Oregon to do some engagement photos on a beautiful sunny weekend, I was like HECK. YES! Megan and Seth live an adorable life where they get up, ride to work together, teach the beautiful minds of tiny children, then ride home together. There is something I just love about that. They also have an awesome cat named Franklin whom I almost shoved in my camera bag and brought back to Washington with me. Is that weird? Yes, yes it is. Aside from being the cutest couple at their elementary school and having a rad cat, they are ridiculously fun. I was constantly laughing and I was so in love with how in love they are. Thanks for allowing me to follow your beautiful faces around with a camera! I have one more post coming with these two humans but it's so cute I had to give it it's own blog post- oh the suspense!
