Chris + Tanya | Backyard Engagement

People should fall in love with their eyes closed.
— Andy Warhol

I love that quote. I really do. I have to admit, it wasn't until I started going through these photos though that I completely understood it. So a huge thank you to these two for showing me what it means. It's simple really. Fall in love laughing, laughing hard and laughing without holding back. Fall in love with your foreheads nuzzled so close together that you simply just close your eyes and feel. Fall in love smiling, so much so that your cheeks force your eyes to squint a little. It's that moment of genuine happiness. That moment when you are so consumed in a smile, a laugh, a touch- that you can't help but close your eyes and absorb that feeling. That is how people should fall in love. These photos below are not in some extravagant setting (though your yard was lovely, guys!)  But we were just casually having a beer in their backyard on a sunny Sunday- nothing too uncommon.  What makes these photos special, is the feeling they capture and the moments they've frozen. I hope Tanya and Chris forever remember this day. Not as anything extraordinary, but just as a normal day full of genuine happiness, absolute love, and good beer.

I also really think Deschutes Brewery should definitely send them a little wedding gift. Don't you agree?

Seth + Megan | Portlandia Engagement

A great relationship happens when two people who truly understand each other and love each other for who they are, come together and create something stronger than either of them could on their own.

Portlandia, I love you. You're quirky, you're fun, and you have some rad beautiful humans. I recently posted the first part of these two's engagement session, and I'm headed down to Portland this afternoon and figured this was a great time to share a Portland engagement session on the blog! There are certain things that are very Portland: food carts, gluten-free menus, craft beers, live music, and BEARDS. So when Seth decided to shave his beard two weeks before this engagement session it is completely understandable that Megan was upset. Seth tells the story best, but his impression involves a very dramatic high-pitched exclamation from Megan, with fists clenched and arms in the air, and just complete and utter heartbreak. Totally understandable, Megs! ;) Luckily, we can all laugh about this now because Seth's beard grew back and looks pretty awesome. Am I right?! (disclaimer! I almost didn't include this little story but after getting the okay from Megan to post it, I found it too funny not to shareMegan had mentioned this black wall to me and I absolutely love how we were able to take something so plain and simple and create such beautiful images with it. We spent the afternoon in Silver Falls Park and right as the sun went down we were able to sneak a few photos in this parking lot. I don't know what's cuter: Megan's tulle skirt or Seth's print button up shirt? Together, they're perfect. Couldn't be happier for these two!
